Intramuscular Stimulation

Do you suffer from chronic or recurrent muscle pain? You may be suffering from chronic musculoskeletal or neuropathic pain caused by nerve irritation or dysfunction. The good news – we have successfully treated patients with these symptoms using intramuscular stimulation.

  • Headaches

Chemical activity in your brain, the nerves or blood vessels surrounding your skull, or the muscles of your head and neck (or some combination of these factors) can play a role in primary headaches. Some people may also carry genes that make them more likely to develop such headaches.

  • Achilles Tendonitis

Achilles tendinitis is an overuse injury of the Achilles (uh-KILL-eez) tendon, the band of tissue that connects calf muscles at the back of the lower leg to your heel bone. Achilles tendinitis most commonly occurs in runners who have suddenly increased the intensity or duration of their runs.

  • IT Band Syndrome

IT band syndrome (ITBS) is a common lateral knee injury. Overuse and repetitive flexion and extension of the knees usually cause this type of injury. It occurs when the IT band becomes tight, irritated, or inflamed. This tightness causes friction on the outside of the knee when bending, which is painful.

  • Whiplash Syndrome

Whiplash syndrome is a cluster of symptoms that are commonly attributed to an obscure neck injury following an MVA. The symptoms are neither radicular, or myelopathic. They include headache, neck pain, neck spasm, jaw pain, shoulder pain, diffuse numbness and weakness in the upper extremities.

  • Frozen Shoulder

Although many shoulder diseases involve pain and loss of motion, frozen shoulder is most often caused by inflammation (swelling, pain and irritation) of the tissues surrounding the joint. The tissue that envelops the joint and holds it together is called the capsule.

Core Stabilization

Your spine is an inherently unstable area. Your deep core muscles are the main structures that support, control and move your lower spine and pelvis. When you suffer from back pain, we know your deep core stability muscles are not working properly, leaving you vulnerable to further injury and persisting chronic pain.

  • Improved Posture

Good posture helps you in the following ways: Keeps bones and joints in the correct position (alignment) so that muscles are being used properly. Helps cut down on the wear and tear of joint surfaces (such as the knee) to help prevent the onset of arthritis. Decreases the strain on the ligaments in the spine.

  • Greater Movement Control

Over most of the operating range of a muscle, the nervous system controls muscle force by varying both motor unit recruitment and rate coding. Except at relatively low forces, however, the control of muscle force depends primarily on rate coding, especially during fast contractions.

  • Reduced Lower Back Strain

Lower back pain can range from a muscle aching to a shooting, burning or stabbing sensation. In addition, the pain may radiate down your leg or worsen with bending, twisting, lifting, standing or walking.

  • Reduced Muscle Imbalance

When one side of the opposing muscles is stronger than the other, you have a muscle imbalance. For instance, if you regularly use the muscles on one side a lot more than the other, they get stronger muscles – and shorter and tighter. On the other side, the muscles get weaker – and longer and looser.

Orthopaedic and Sports Injuries

We are passionate about sport and helping our clients achieve their personal best performances. We understand the frustration of a sports injury and the desire to return to play. Our goal is to help you recover so you can return to the activities you love and avoid further injuries in the future.

  • Acute Injuries

An acute injury is generally an injury that is severe and with sudden onset. Sprained ankles, strained backs, and fractured hands are acute injuries. Acute injury is a sudden injury that is usually associated with a traumatic event such as clashing into another player during sports or a fall from a bike

  • Chronic Injuries

Stress fractures are tiny cracks in a bone. They're caused by repetitive force, often from overuse — such as repeatedly jumping up and down or running long distances. Stress fractures can also develop from normal use of a bone that's weakened by a condition such as osteoporosis.

  • Pre & Post Orthopaedic Surgery Care

For some patients, recovery takes a few weeks. For others, it can take several months. Depending on your overall health, the condition for which you were treated and the type of surgery performed, you may be able to go home the same day or the day after surgery even if you had total joint replacement surgery.

  • Concussions

Approximately 80 percent of concussions resolve over seven to 14 days, with an average of 10 days. People with concussions should never return to sports or other physical activity sooner than one week from sustaining the injury.

Back Pain Treatment

Based on a thorough examination we will tailor our treatments to your specific back issue. Our goal is to get you back to normal mobility and work with you to reduce the chances of a recurring injury or condition.

  • Relieve Stiffness

Stiff back can be caused by muscular causes such as muscle strain, muscle spasms, and poor posture. Arthritis of the lumbar spine and spinal cord pressure that compresses the sciatic nerve - the nerve that runs from the lower back to the legs - can also cause back pain and stiffness.

  • Reduce Pain

A common cause of back pain is injury to a muscle (strain) or ligament (sprain). Strains and sprains can occur for many reasons, including improper lifting, poor posture and lack of regular exercise. Being overweight might increase your risk of strains and sprains affecting your back.

  • Improve Spinal Movement

ack pain can manifest itself in many ways; as localized pain felt in your lower back and buttocks or radiating pain where you may feel pain in your back as well as down your leg or foot. Early diagnosis and treatment is the key to both decreasing your pain and getting you back to full activity.

  • Strengthening Exercises

Strengthening exercises are exercises which are designed to increase the strength of specific or groups of muscles. Strengthening exercises overload the muscle until the point of muscle fatigue. This force and overload of a muscle encourages the growth, increasing the strength.
